Easy To Ignore, Expensive To Fix

When the Gutters Quit,
The Roof Pays for It

Gutters are easy to ignore right up until they cost you a lot of money. When they clog, sag, or pull away from the house, water stops going where it’s supposed to and starts going where it shouldn’t, behind your fascia, down your walls, and into your roofline. Garrison Roofing installs, repairs, and replaces gutters across Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, and we do it as roofers who understand exactly how a bad gutter takes a good roof down with it.

We’ve spent 20+ years on Philadelphia roofs. That’s the same reason we take gutters seriously. More often than people realize, the roof problem we get called for started at the gutter.

Sized & Pitched Right

Gutter Installation

If your gutters are undersized, leaking at every seam, or just plain worn out, new ones are usually the smarter spend than patching them year after year. Sized correctly for your roof and your rainfall, pitched right so water actually moves toward the downspouts instead of pooling.

01

Seamless Gutters

Formed on-site in one continuous run, so there are no middle joints to leak. The system we recommend most — seams are where sectional gutters fail first.

02

K-Style & Half-Round

The profile that fits your home’s look, whether it’s a modern build or an older Philadelphia property where half-round is the period-correct choice.

03

Aluminum

Durable, rust-proof, and the right call for most homes.

04

Copper

For historic and higher-end homes where longevity and appearance both matter.

05

Downspouts

Sized and placed to carry water well away from your foundation — not dump it at the base of your wall.

06

Gutter Guards

To keep leaves and debris out and cut down how often the system needs cleaning.

Not Everything Needs Replacing

Gutter Repair

A lot of the time it’s a specific failure — a loose section, a leaking seam, a downspout that’s come apart, a stretch that’s pulled away from the fascia — and a targeted repair fixes it for a fraction of a full replacement.

We handle sagging runs, separated joints, leaks, clogged downspouts, and gutters that have started tearing at the fascia board. If a repair will genuinely hold, we’ll repair it. If your gutters are past the point where patching makes sense, we’ll tell you that too.

Same as we do with roofs: if it were our house, we’d want the straight answer — not the bigger invoice.

The Honest Fix

Gutter Replacement

When gutters are rusted through, pulling off the house in multiple spots, or so clogged and warped that cleaning them does nothing, replacement is the honest fix.

We pull the old system, check the fascia and roofline underneath for damage the failing gutters caused, and install a new seamless system built to last.

Because we’re up there anyway, you get a roofer’s eyes on the edge of your roof — not just a new set of gutters bolted over an existing problem.

One System

What Homeowners Don’t See Coming

How Clogged Gutters
Wreck Your Roof

When gutters clog or fail, water backs up under the edge of your roof instead of draining away. That standing water rots the fascia board the gutters hang from, works its way beneath the bottom courses of shingles, and can push moisture into the roof deck and the wood behind your walls.

In winter it’s worse: trapped water freezes into ice dams at the roof’s edge, forcing meltwater back up under the shingles where it drips straight into your home.

By the time you see a stain on the ceiling, what started as a $15 clog has turned into a roof and fascia repair. It’s exactly why a company that does roof repair also does gutters — half the time, the two problems are the same problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are gutters important to roof health?

Gutters carry rainwater off your roof and away from the house. When they work, they protect the fascia, the roof deck, the siding, and the foundation. When they clog or fail, water backs up under the edge of the roof and starts rotting wood, lifting shingles, and finding its way inside. A good gutter system is one of the cheapest forms of roof protection there is.

How often should gutters be cleaned in Philadelphia?

For most homes, twice a year is the rule of thumb — once in late spring and once in fall after the leaves come down. If you’ve got a lot of tree cover, you may need it more often. Gutter guards can stretch those intervals out by keeping the bulk of the debris from ever getting in.

Do clogged gutters cause roof leaks?

Yes, and it’s one of the most common roof leaks we trace back to a cause. When a gutter clogs, water pools and backs up under the shingles at the roof’s edge instead of draining. In winter that same backup freezes into ice dams, which force water up under the roof and into the house. Clearing or fixing the gutters often solves a leak people assumed was a roof problem.

What’s the difference between seamless and sectional gutters?

Sectional gutters are made from pre-cut pieces joined together, and every joint is a potential leak point down the road. Seamless gutters are formed on-site in one continuous length for each run, so the only seams are at the corners and downspouts. Fewer seams means fewer leaks, which is why we recommend seamless for most homes.
